2024 NBA Draft Big Board
As both the NBA regular season and March Madness come to a close, it’s officially NBA draft season!
Over the course of twelve months, I have monitored, analyzed and ranked over 150 prospects, each with their own intricacies, strengths, hitches and tools that define them as not only a basketball player— but as a prospect.
This is the final big board of this draft cycle. To view the first iteration click here. To view the second version click here.
Without further ado, I present my third and final 2024 NBA Draft Big Board for the cycle!
Disclaimer: All Stats Adjusted to Per 36
LOTTERY (1-14)
1- ALEXANDRE SARR
Position: PF
Age: 19
Height: 7’1”
Weight: 217
From: Perth Wildcats (NBL)
19.2 PPG, 9.0 RPG, 2.1 APG, 0.9 SPG, 3.1 BPG
Pro Comparison: Deandre Ayton
Analysis: Sarr seems to be the best center available in the draft. His ability to stay on the perimeter with wing guys is quite useful. He played exceptionally well at the Ignite Invitational, showcasing his long-range shooting. Another topic rarely discussed is his passing in transition. His eyes were up as soon as he touched the ball, looking to pass down court to the man who was open, and he exuded confidence in his passing. After his performance in the FIBA, I didn’t think he was that great, but he didn’t appear to stand out from the crowd the way he does now. Very likely to go No. 1, but needs to maintain consistency.
2- MATAS BUZELIS
Position: SF
Age: 19
Height: 6’11”
Weight: 195 lbs
From: G-League Ignite
16.4 PPG, 7.7 RPG, 2.3 APG, 1.1 SPG, 2.3 BPG
Pro Comparison: Franz Wagner
Analysis: Even while he won’t be a Franz Wagner-caliber player or a superstar, he should at least be a 6’10” shooter, which has significant worth on its own. If he could improve any of his handle, playmaking, finishing, etc., he could be a very good player, as he excels in other crucial areas. Because his floor is so much higher than the rest of his class, he may have the best chance of finishing first. That’s not to minimize his potential, though, as he has a good chance of becoming an All-Star with the right circumstances.
3- NIKOLA TOPIC
Position: PG
Age: 18
Height: 6’6”
Weight: 201 lbs
From: KK Mega Basket (Serbia)
19.1 PPG, 4.2 RPG, 7.1 APG, 1.1 SPG, 0.2 BPG
Pro Comparison: Josh Giddey
Analysis: Topic is a powerful, tough point guard/combo guard with the stature and strength to overwhelm the defense because to his low center of gravity. plays with a high head and possesses superb passing vision and intuition. The subject is a scorer in the lane who absorbs contact below the hoop.
Despite lacking outstanding burst, Topic is an inventive finisher who scores around the basket and possesses a remarkable ability to penetrate the lane. He keeps the defense on their toes and possesses a fantastic three-point shooting stroke. He can finish with either hand and play left or right.
4- JUAN NUNEZ
Position: PG
Age: 19
Height: 6’4”
Weight: 190 lbs
From: Ratiopharm Ulm (Spain)
16.4 PPG, 5.3 RPG, 8.9 APG, 2.6 SPG, 0.1 BPG
Pro Comparison: Lonzo Ball
Analysis: Nunez is undoubtedly my favorite prospect in this draft. A European prodigy who has played professionally since the tender age of 15, he is the embodiment of the modern point guard. His ability to read and play the floor with little-to-no mistakes at such a young age is remarkable. While at times streaky, he can light you up from three-point range at a moment’s notice. On the defensive end though is where he rises up my board dramatically. His ruthless and relentless pressure on the ball handler is a trait that can’t be taught. He possesses this burning fire and passion for winning, and he will stop at nothing to achieve that.
Nunez could be the next iteration of European guards that dominate the league. Think Luka, Rubio, Parker. GM’s will look back at this draft and think “Damn, how did we pass on this kid?”.
5- DONOVAN CLINGAN
Position: C
Age: 20
Height: 7’0”
Weight: 248 lbs
From: UConn
21.1 PPG, 12.2 RPG, 2.5 APG, 0.9 SPG, 4.0 BPG
Pro Comparison: Walker Kessler
Analysis: The rim-running, paint-protecting drop big archetype is losing favor, but Clingan might be as good as they come within that archetype provided he takes a step forward this season. If he does take a step, the juice is worth the squeeze in terms of letting him anchor your defense. His foot speed and general mobility is startling for a guy his size. Definitely expect him to carve out a solid role in the NBA just by virtue of his defense/rebounding. His touch around the rim isn’t too bad either. If he develops a jump shot or shows more playmaking ability in the short term, he could end up a late lottery pick.
6- CODY WILLIAMS
Position: SF
Age: 19
Height: 6’8”
Weight: 195 lbs
From: Colorado
15.0 PPG, 3.8 RPG, 2.2 APG, 0.8 SPG, 0.9 BPG
Pro Comparison: Jabari Smith Jr
Analysis: He looks like a legitimate lottery choice. He may be on the slender side, but he can gradually gain muscle, and his height makes him a threat on both ends of the floor. Seems to have a good three-point range and isn’t a volume shooter from that distance, so he has a good shot selection.
7- STEPHON CASTLE
Position: PG/SG
Age: 19
Height: 6’6”
Weight: 190 lbs
From: UConn
14.6 PPG, 6.3 RPG, 4.0 APG, 2.3 SPG, 1.1 BPG
Pro Comparison: Markelle Fultz
Analysis: The way Stephon Castle, someone who was well-noted to be a lottery prospect, and hence would likely be a one-and-done, has put the teams needs ahead of his own this past season is testament to the fact that this guy is a winner. He could very well have taken the spotlight, or demanded a larger role, but instead sacrificed for the good of the team, who made it all the way to the final.
He plays a selfless game — even when he has the ball in his hands — and can drive and finish with both hands. Castle also possesses a strong frame with wide shoulders and decent length. He is not the most vertical player but has good body control, pace, speed and balance. His physical advantages could allow him to soar up the board, as his build is quickly becoming the mold of the modern point guard.
8- ROBERT DILLINGHAM
Position: PG
Age: 18
Height: 6’3”
Weight: 176 lbs
From: Kentucky
23.5 PPG, 4.5 RPG, 6.0 APG, 1.8 SPG, 0.1 BPG
Pro Comparison: Brandon Jennings
Analysis: Dillingham has an exceptional feel for manipulating horizontal space. The Kentucky product has a distinct sense of spatial and temporal dimensions. Dillingham uses this knowledge in conjunction with a powerful burst of speed to gain separation. He’s a self-assured, sharpshooter from the deep. He possesses a fantastic jump shot to the right. He pulls up with terrific elegance in the midrange, going both ways. When he is unable to reach the hoop, he prefers to shoot off the dribble to the left.
9- REED SHEPPARD
Position: PG/SG
Age: 19
Height: 6’3”
Weight: 197 lbs
From: Kentucky
15.5 PPG, 5.6 RPG, 5.6 APG, 3.1 SPG, 0.9 BPG
Pro Comparison: Devin Booker
Analysis: Quick (and superb) decision-maker. He makes so many touch passes every game. He’s not going to stand up and slam it — though he has one in his arsenal — but he has a good drop shot and is shooting about 78% on shots within three feet of the basket.
10- JUSTIN EDWARDS
Position: SF/PF
Age: 19
Height: 6’7”
Weight: 180 lbs
From: Kentucky
14.8 PPG, 5.7 RPG, 1.6 APG, 1.5 SPG, 0.4 BPG
Pro Comparison: Brandon Miller
Analysis: The more I watch him, the more I am conflicted about him as a prospect. He lacks burst, and his finishing is a little overblown. Expected larger shooting splits, but his stroke remains excellent. He possesses a high release point, and while he is usually streaky, when the shot falls he appears unstoppable out there— scoring at all three levels with ease.
While his disappointing freshman year may put off scouts, it would be stupid to pass on a player with Edwards’ ceiling in such a weak class. Based only on his physical tools and the abilities he demonstrated in high school, he could very well end his career as the best player in his class, and that upside to some teams is too good to pass on.
11- ZACCHARIE RISACHER
Position: SF/SG
Age: 18
Height: 6’9”
Weight: 204 lbs
From: JL Bourg (France)
17.0 PPG, 5.3 RPG, 1.6 APG, 1.6 SPG, 0.6 BPG
Pro Comparison: Franz Wagner
Analysis: Risacher has a wingspan of 6’10”, but he is more than that. He’s a nimble forward with incredible foot speed, and his potential is limitless. His jump shot is already technically sound. The areas for improvement include increasing his passing read speed and gaining strength in his frame so that he can eventually defend larger 4s or even 5s and finish through contact.
12- ZACH EDEY
Position: C
Age: 21
Height: 7’4.25”
Weight: 306 lbs
From: Purdue
28.1 PPG, 13.8 RPG, 2.4 APG, 0.3 SPG, 3.0 BPG
Pro Comparison: Enes Freedom
Analysis: Edey thrives offensively with layups, putbacks, tips and post-ups. He would have been an excellent target in a league dominated by centers at the time. Edey is an excellent rebounder, averaging nearly 14 rebounds per game, but this is largely due to his size over opponents, which concerns me as it may not transition into the NBA. The Purdue product is 7’4, making him one of the NCAA’s tallest players, and he makes the most of his height. He spends the majority of his time in the paint, either waiting for the ball to come to him or hustling for rebounds.
13- JA’KOBE WALTER
Position: SG/SF
Age: 19
Height: 6’5”
Weight: 180 lbs
From: Baylor
16.2 PPG, 5.2 RPG, 1.8 APG, 1.3 SPG, 0.2 BPG
Pro Comparison: Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
Analysis: On offense, he moves quite quickly. He seems to never slow down. His primary strengths are his shooting and shot creativity. He has a very smooth release and outstanding percentages. He has good off-the-catch and pull-up midrange shooting abilities. He achieves his goal by attacking closeouts and isolating. He has good finishing ability. At the moment, he is a finisher underneath the rim, but he climbs up and finishes over opponents. He also has the ability to perform floaters and acrobatic finishes.
14- ISAIAH COLLIER
Position: PG
Age: 19
Height: 6’4”
Weight: 205 lbs
From: USC
19.6 PPG, 3.3 RPG, 5.1 APG, 1.9 SPG, 0.3 BPG
Pro Comparison: Jalen Suggs
Analysis: Collier possesses a distinct collection of tools. Collier, who is six feet tall, possesses outstanding core strength and broad shoulders. Collier drives the lane with the same tenacity as Derrick Henry. Collier uses accurate shoulder bumps to get past opponents and maintains contact better than any other 19-year-old point guard. Collier’s fast first stride lets him to penetrate routinely, and he is a prolific foul shooter.
THE BEST OF THE REST (15-30)
15- TYLER SMITH
Position: PF/SF
Age: 19
Height: 6’11”
Weight: 224 lbs
From: G-League Ignite
22.4 PPG, 8.3 RPG, 2.4 APG, 1.4 SPG, 1.5 BPG
Pro Comparison: Cedi Osman
Analysis: At 6-foot-10, as projectable shooter with a modern wing toolkit and solid defensive end, Smith is a lock to go in the 2024 first round. He has the potential to play a significant 3-and-D role in the NBA, and his growth as a shooter/shooter and ball handler will increase his ceiling and make him a 3-and-D plus prospect.
16- TIDJANE SALAUN
Position: SF
Age: 18
Height: 6’9”
Weight: 203 lbs
From: Cholet Basket (France)
15.4 PPG, 5.2 RPG, 1.2 APG, 2.0 SPG, 0.9 BPG
Pro Comparison: Obi Toppin
Analysis: Tidjane Salaun possesses all of the necessary skills to be a highly successful NBA player. His athletic abilities are his most appealing feature, and they provide him with enormous potential. He is incredibly quick and fast. He’s 6’9″, but he has great speed. He can go from stop to full speed in such a short period of time, making him an excellent transition player.
Salaun has a great vertical leap and can get off the ground rapidly. He also has an impressive wingspan. He stands 6’9 and has a wingspan of 7’0, which could be even longer. His wingspan, paired with his vertical jump, offers him excellent skills for being a successful shot blocker in the NBA.
On top of that, he’s also a very fluid mover, moving gracefully and light on his feet. He has all the athletic tools you would want of someone his height— perhaps outside of more strength.
17- RON HOLLAND
Position: SF/PF
Age: 19
Height: 6’8”
Weight: 200 lbs
From: G-League Ignite
22.0 PPG, 7.5 RPG, 3.3 APG, 2.6 SPG, 1.3 BPG
Pro Comparison: Jonathan Kuminga
Analysis: The jumpshot — when he has time — looks pretty solid compared to other project wings from the past drafts. In addition to Kuminga, another good comparison for Holland is last year’s top-five selection, Ausar Thompson, minus the physical tools of course.
Like Ausar, he’s going to put counting stats on the board. The amount of ‘stocks’ that each can get jump out at you from the box score, and you can’t undersell Holland’s defense. Despite this, he’s definitely going to be rough around the edges at points.
It’s hard to gauge Holland’s real impact largely due to how poorly G-League Ignite performed this season. Pair that with the fact that the Ignite is a new expansion that quickly folded, and it’s almost impossible what to think of Holland as a prospect.
18- TERRENCE SHANNON JR.
Position: SG
Age: 23
Height: 6’6.5”
Weight: 225 lbs
From: Illinois
24.4 PPG, 4.2 RPG, 2.4 APG, 1.1 SPG, 1.2 BPG
Pro Comparison: Hamidou Diallo
Analysis: He comes and goes too often and the shooting hasn’t been consistent for a player with a label around shooting. He still has to refine his right hand and learn to play more consistently under control. He’s a good risk to end up as a backup, but for a guy with a moderate ceiling, his floor doesn’t feel higher than the average senior.
19- JARED MCCAIN
Position: PG
Age: 19
Height: 6’3”
Weight: 197 lbs
From: Duke
16.3 PPG, 5.7 RPG, 2.5 APG, 2.2 SPG, 0.1 BPG
Pro Comparison: Seth Curry
Analysis: McCain possesses a translatable archetype, thanks to his fluid jumper with a quick release and outstanding mechanics, as well as his extremely high IQ. While his spot-up shooting ability is valuable, he also has midrange self-creation potential. With multiple ways to score in that area, the Duke guard may bring three-level upside as a rookie if given the opportunity.
20- RYAN DUNN
Position: SF
Age: 21
Height: 6’8”
Weight: 216 lbs
From: Virginia
11.1 PPG, 9.1 RPG, 1.1 APG, 3.1 SPG, 3.1 BPG
Pro Comparison: Trey Murphy III
Analysis: While his perimeter shooting is excellent, his defensive skills and IQ may be the most intriguing. Dunn has the agility, length and intelligence to make a difference on that end, and he can guard a variety of positions. He can play off or on the ball, and has the skills to close out and disrupt. He is also a good shot blocker in his own right, as evidenced by his 5.3 block per 100 possessions last season in a small sample.
21- TYRESE PROCTER
Position: PG/SG
Age: 19
Height: 6’5”
Weight: 183 lbs
From: Duke
13.0 PPG, 3.5 RPG, 4.5 APG, 0.8 SPG, 0.2 BPG
Pro Comparison: Derrick White
Analysis: I don’t necessarily buy the sure-fire lottery pick hype but he is a first-rounder with lottery upside. He finished last year averaging around 15 in his last 10 games in conference play on good efficiency as a freshman in the ACC. He has NBA PG length and his vision is great, he just needs to fill out. He’s not a guy with massive upside, but should project to be a starting-caliber guard, which in this draft is definitely a pretty strong pick.
22- KYLE FILIPOWSKI
Position: C/PF
Age: 20
Height: 7’0”
Weight: 248 lbs
From: Duke
19.9 PPG, 9.7 RPG, 3.3 APG, 1.0 SPG, 2.0 BPG
Pro Comparison: Mark Williams
Analysis: He’s 6’11, doesn’t play a lick of defense by NBA standards, can’t score efficiently at the rim, and is not a great shooter. Filipowski has the physical tools to have a great career in the league, his skills just need to develop to match that. His front-line athleticism is a bit greasy for a big man. He can handle the ball at a decent level, make good passes, and may develop into a good shooter one day.
23- CARLTON CARRINGTON
Position: PG/SG
Age: 18
Height: 6’5”
Weight: 190 lbs
From: Pittsburgh
14.0 PPG, 5.7 RPG, 4.6 APG, 0.7 SPG, 0.2 BPG
Pro Comparison: Cade Cunningham
Analysis: Carrington fits what has fast become a must-have for NBA point guards— size. But when you factor in Carrington’s ball-handling skills, self-aggressiveness and passing vision, it’s hard to ignore the intrigue. Carrington excels when the ball is in his hands and he’s playing off the ball, but there’s more to Carrington than that.
24- DALTON KNECHT
Position: SF
Age: 22
Height: 6’6”
Weight: 213 lbs
From: Tennessee
20.0 PPG, 5.4 RPG, 1.9 APG, 0.6 SPG, 0.8 BPG
Pro Comparison: Bruce Brown
Analysis: Knecht is a consistent three-point shooter with great volume. He’s not a great perimeter shooter, but he’s clearly capable and consistent, shooting just below 40%. He is tall and can shoot over defenders. He is also very efficient at the free-throw line and has strong shooting mechanics. Knecht’s next phase could be to improve his passing and assist production.
He’s already an effective connector (one might even say he’s an effective Knecht-or), but has yet to show the ability to be the primary facilitator. He has a solid assist rate, but genuine assist output might boost his stock. However, he already takes excellent care of the ball.
25- JAEDON LEDEE
Position: PF
Age: 24
Height: 6’9”
Weight: 240 lbs
From: San Diego State University
24.0 PPG, 11.3 RPG, 2.1 APG, 1.3 SPG, 1.6 BPG
Pro Comparison: David West
Analysis: LeDee is one of the highest-scoring players in college basketball. He’s also faced significant opposition from high majors such as BYU, Cal, Washington, and the perennially challenging mid-major Saint Mary’s. These stats are not inflated. It’s difficult to discuss LeDee and how he works without first mentioning his body. Simply put, Jaedon LeDee looks and moves like an NBA player. He’s described as 6-foot-9 and 240 pounds. He’s built like he was carved out of granite, with a strong physique and broad shoulders. Most importantly, he is willing to use these tools to gain an advantage.
LeDee’s greatest strength is his ability to guard the ball. Few guys may give him headaches. Because he’s built like a linebacker, even collegiate big guys can’t make him move inside. When wings and guards attempt to attack him, they frequently regret it. His defensive position and posture are textbook. He glides his feet nicely and easily elevates from his slide. Though he isn’t the fastest or most agile, these changes have given him a commanding presence. LeDee also has excellent hand-eye coordination and is adept at intercepting his man’s dribble. While I’d prefer LeDee to cover the opposition four-man at the next level, he would be fine with switching throughout.
26- DEVIN CARTER
Position: PG/SG
Age: 19
Height: 6’3″
Weight: 188 lbs
From: Providence
22.3 PPG, 9.0 RPG, 4.1 APG, 2.0 SPG, 1.1 BPG
Pro Comparison: Derrick White
Analysis: Son of NBA coach Anthony Carter, Devin Carter is a dangerous ball-screen and spot-up shooter who can play both on and off the ball. He’s still more wired to score than to make plays, and NBA coaches will be hesitant to use him as the primary decision-maker. He’ll play as a combo guard from the second spot.
Given his late development and physical/athletic limitations, the big question is how much of his game will transition to the NBA. If the scoring outbursts do not continue, he will play a versatile role comparable to Brandin Podziemski, with shot making, secondary creation, outlier rebounding, and defense. He could resemble Derrick White if he provides a more consistent scoring punch and emerges as a perimeter defender.
27- KEVIN MCCULLAR
Position: SG
Age: 23
Height: 6’5”
Weight: 210 lbs
From: Kansas
19.3 PPG, 6.5 RPG, 4.5 APG, 1.7 SPG, 0.4 BPG
Pro Comparison: Kenrich Williams
Analysis: He gets to where he needs to be, scores through contact and sets up his teammates with both stationary and live dribble passes. He seems to have more control over every possession. He’s had a triple-double in his last five games. He has also been very good on the defensive end, playing a variety of archetypes and stopping ball handlers.
28- KEL’EL WARE
Position: C
Age: 19
Height: 7’0
Weight: 223 lbs
From: Indiana
17.4 PPG, 10.9 RPG, 2.2 APG, 0.9 SPG, 1.8 BPG
Pro Comparison: Tyson Chandler
Analysis: He reminds me of Tyson Chandler out of high school in terms of skill set and size/athleticism, but just like Tyson, Ware will explode when he starts focusing on his big man skill set and IQ. The three-point shot is nice, but he should focus on his spot-up game and get rid of the off-the-dribble game.
29- BOBI KLINTMAN
Position: SF
Age: 20
Height: 6’11”
Weight: 225 lbs
From: Cairns Taipans (NBL)
16.9 PPG, 7.9 RPG, 1.5 APG, 2.0 SPG, 0.9 BPG
Pro Comparison: Kyle Kuzma
Analysis: Klintman stands at 6’10” and has good size and athleticism. He is a floor spacer who shoots around 37% from behind the arc. He has good hands, good rebounding and shot-blocking skills. However, Klintman needs to work on his strength and finish inside. He also lacks toughness and struggles against physical competition. Despite his rough exterior, Klintman’s size, shooting and versatility make him an interesting player with some untapped potential.
30- IZAN ALMANSA
Position: PF
Age: 19
Height: 6’10”
Weight: 216 lbs
From: G-League Ignite
14.2 PPG, 9.8 RPG, 2.5 APG, 1.1 SPG, 1.2 BPG
Pro Comparison: Alperen Sengun
Analysis: He’s a great finisher at the rim, can post-up, and can handle the ball a bit. He’s okay at rebounding and has a good motor but he’s more of a below-the-rim finisher which is worrying for a big, especially at his size. Average length at best (7’1 wingspan) for a big man. Non-shooter at this point but he has shown solid touch from the free-throw line. He’s pretty agile but not someone who can be called switchable at the moment. Doesn’t offer much rim protection either. I need to see more playmaking reps before I fully judge that part of his game, but he projects to be the next iteration of playmaking bigs from Europe (think Jokic, Sengun, Giannis).
